About me

Joy WilderAlways remember that the future comes one day at a time.
Dean Acheson

After earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Medical Technology, I worked at Chicago area laboratories for over 10 years, until I stayed home to raise my children. When they went to school full time, I decided that I wanted to go back to school, as well. Wanting to incorporate my medical background with my interest in law, I chose to pursue a Paralegal Certificate at Loyola University in Chicago.

I graduated with honors with a post-baccalaureate certificate  with a main concentration in litigation, although my skills can relate to any area of law. My internship was at a large Defense firm, where I reviewed and prepared extensive amounts of documents to prepare for trials.

Upon graduation, I immediately secured a Paralegal position at a small plaintiff Personal Injury firm, where both my medical and legal background helped me immensely.  I filed paperwork at the Cook County Courthouse, procured medical and traffic records, scheduled depositions, interpreted and summarized medical records, wrote complaints, propounded and answered discovery, conducted defendant background research, ordered office supplies for the entire firm … and much, much more!

Besides the legal field, I am interested in botanical pencil drawing, tent camping, hiking, reading, and most recently, Bikram Yoga.
